On arriving home from the US Navy in 1919, Al Andrews established Andrews Seed Co. Andrews was built in its current location in 1923 and was then sold to John Stubstad in 1955. Under the watchful eye of Mr. Stubstad, Andrews expanded in many areas of business, agricultual wholesale/retail, as well as the garden center and nursery. Upon the passing of Mr. Stubstad in 2003, the business was purchased by David Polhemus and Mike & Susan Kurth, who maintain the business to this day.

Dave, Mike & Susan have been employed by Andrews for over 30 years, along with several staff members who have also been involved for over 30 years. We have many other long term employees, as well as some newer arrivals, who are all an integral part of our ongoing operation. Our success with maintaining quality employees speaks volumes to our success in the business!

Andrews' History
Community Relations
Andrews Seed Company, under John Stubstad, was a major supporter of the Ontario Municipal Swimming Pool, and has continued with further support. Andrews also supports the Community Garden with the S.E. Oregon Regional Food Bank. We are proudly involved in the development of the Japanese Gardens at the Four Rivers Cultural Center. We contribute to the efforts of all local schools, civic organizations, local county fairs, church organizations, and even individuals with an interest in horticulture/agriculture. We consider all of these organizations (too many to mention all here) an important, if not vital part of our local and regional communities.
